#6 Twilight of the Superheroes
The stories, which were set around the time of September 11th, 2001, were well written sketches that stood very well on their own. Some short fiction pieces leave me wanting, but these accomplished their goal masterfully of telling me a tale about some American family and their unique struggles. The fact that they all occurred around the time of the attacks of Sept. 11th, did not detract from them at all. What I really liked about how Eisenberg presented it was that the attacks were a tragedy amongst family tragedies or dramas. The stories unfolded in a way that did not make the attack front and center, but rather something that they would recall, years later, the events of that day when they were trying to forget the unique pain they once experienced. So, the attack is one more tragedy amongst a world of hurt.
