I wasn’t sure I wanted to say anything about Michael Jackson in the wake of his death, but I listened to Rock With You like 20 times today, and just had to say something.
The first time I saw Thriller was in my grandparents basement when I was around 9 I suppose. My uncle had bought the VHS and I decided I had to see it. Bad choice. It freaked me out, and I’ve never looked at zombies the same since.
I was too young to remember when the album Off The Wall came out, but I prefer that Michael Jackson album to all the others; even the his follow up album, Thriller, which is still the top selling album of all time, doesn’t beat it in my opinion. Anyway, this song reminds me of when I was a wee lad, right before my discovery of Transformers and G.I. Joe. Off The Wall Michael Jackson and Cindy Lauper to this day remain my favorite 80’s artists.
So yeah, Rock With You is, and always will be, my favorite Michael Jackson song. It really is a perfectly crafted pop song.
