While we’re stoning them …
I’ve seen a lot of chatter recently about hipsters mostly stemming from shepdaddy’s post about the same. My beef with hipsters is quite simple. They seem to lack both love and sincerity. I don’t get the feeling that they’ve ever felt passionate about anything; that they’ve ever given themselves to reckless abandon; that they were ever children, or that they ever really even dream of a world they want, and know never can be, but still refuse to let it go and so live in this fairy-tale lala land in their heads. Theirs is the tale told by fools, full of sound and fury, signifying—all together now—nothing. Here’s to hoping they find their hearts, their childhood, and remember that loving things simply for what they are is OK.
