To Be Good

When people tell me I’m a good person, my instinct is to say “you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.” What I usually do, however, is just say thanks and try to slide away. I just don’t understand what their criteria is for goodness. Let me give you an example of what I feel one should say when one calls another person good. Let’s take my friend Courtney, aka thatbeautifulday, for example. When I say she’s a good person, what I mean is, she is someone who is beautiful, passionate, caring, compassionate, intelligent, someone who keeps her word, and is a dedicated friend. She’s an inspiring person in many ways. So, I say, if you say someone is a good person, tell them why. Let them understand what beauty you see so that they might reflect on it and cultivate such characteristics even further. Because we really do need good people around.
