AthFest: The Awesome List, Part Two
Hey, I’m back with a few more recommendations for y’all. The following bands will require a wristband to see unless you’re cool with dropping a minimum of $5 per venue. But being the frugal, money conscious American that you are, you’ve bought your wristband to ensure you get the best bang for your buck.
Now while not every song from Gringo Star is a strong as the video I’m posting, they should play a good live show, and seeing AthFest is about live music, that’s a key factor in deciding who to see and who to avoid. So, here’s a video for their song All Y’all:
Now, they’re also playing with Modern Skirts and Venice is Sinking at The Melting Point, so it promises to be a good night.
Next up is Hope For AGoldenSummer. This band is without a doubt one of the best bands in Athens, and if you haven’t heard them before, you’ve seriously missed out on a good show and some great music. They’re playing at Little Kings Shuffle Club Friday night. Here’s one of their videos to give you a preview:
The rest of the bands on that night’s ticket is your typical singer-songwriter fair, with the exception of Major Love Event, a band whose lyrics really grabbed me. It takes a unique and talented soul to craft lyrics, so I think that band is worth your attention. Just think Nellie McKay accompanied by a dude on drums.
Okay, so that should do it for now, but I’ll be back later with more awesome music to help you make your AthFest the best ever!
